Brainstorms On Making A Career Out Of Plumbing
You probably do not think about it very much, but every time you wash your hands or flush a toilet, you are using a service that a plumber provided at some point. Now, are there not these types of devices pretty much everywhere you go? Why, yes, yes there are. Obviously, the idea of making a career out of plumbing looks like a really good one.
Do you realize that bathrooms are everywhere you go? How many homes or offices have you seen that are not so equipped? You can even go out to some far off campsite and avail yourself of a decent bathroom sometimes. Yes indeed, plumbers seem to be busy people, and it is shocking to think of a world without them.
There are basically three types of fields to consider in becoming a plumber. These are residential, commercial, and emergency. They are all vitally important to the building industry, and no home, office, or even camp site may be complete without the services of a good plumber and the systems the he or she installs.
The residential plumber will mostly be concerned with plumbing new houses. They are one of the first people on the job site, as most of the piping is going to be under the foundation. Once a house is set up for the flow of water and waste, then the thing gets built up on top of that. After the walls and roof are up, then the plumber can come in to top out the system and install all of the fixtures and such.
Commercial refers to big business building, but the process is much the same. The difference is, of course, in size. The logistics of moving all of that water up all those floors, and then back down again, is stupendous. So is the work involved. If you are interest in building really big, and the commensurate big bucks involved, consider commercial construction. Be warned however, that the stakes are much higher in this game.
And it you are really interested in making the biggest money, then consider doing emergency work. Mind you, this is not going to always be so clean and pleasant as installing fixtures and laying pipe. This is when you go in to houses and offices that have overflowing toilets and flooding hallways. The work can be nasty, filthy, and grueling. The hours can be brutal, as emergencies occur at any time. But because so few are willing to do this, and so many need it done, you can make a fortune doing it.
Making a career out of plumbing is a very good idea. It is particularly suitable for individuals who like working on their own and with their hands. It can be hard, hot, and dusty, but the payoff will usually be sound. Plumbers are necessary, and earn because of that necessity.
